Prayerfully Poetic

A Collection of Prayerful Poems by Tim McGee

The Keeper of My Soul

When my soul wanders through midnight, and even my prayers forget their wings, I feel a sacred hand beneath the stars—the Maker of mountains whispering my name into the dark.

My help comes from no earthly dawn, but from the One who hung the heavens like a veil of endless wonder and breathed eternity into the trembling chambers of my heart.

O God, when I have nothing left but a tear and a fading amen, be the unseen light that finds me, the ancient love that holds me, the home my weary spirit remembers.

For the hills may rise and shadows fall, but my soul knows where its refuge lies. My help comes from the Lord, the Creator of heaven and earth, and even in my darkest hour, I am never beyond His reach.

Amen

One response to “The Keeper of My Soul”

  1. Tim, congratulations on the insight woven throughout this poem. What stood out to me was the way you moved beyond simply describing an idea and uncovered a deeper truth that invites reflection. The poem doesn’t just communicate a thought; it creates space for the reader to pause, consider, and see familiar things from a fresh perspective.

I especially appreciate how the imagery and message work together to reveal the heart of the insight rather than merely explain it. That takes discernment and a thoughtful touch as a writer. The result feels authentic, earned, and engaging.

Well done on capturing something meaningful and expressing it with both clarity and depth. Poems that offer genuine insight often stay with readers long after they’ve finished reading, and this one has that quality. Keep following those moments of discovery in your writing. They are clearly bearing fruit.
