The Hidden Dwelling

Strengthen me, Lord,
in the hidden chambers of my heart,
where no one sees
and even I am sometimes afraid to enter.

Make Your home in me.

Remain
as the Presence
beneath all things,
the holy fire
I cannot see
but somehow sense.

Root me deeply in Your love,
until my roots reach
the places where words disappear
and only mystery remains.

Let me know
the breadth of Your mercy,
the length of Your patience,
the height of Your grace,
the depth of Your love
that has no bottom.

How can I comprehend
the immeasurable?

Perhaps I cannot.

Perhaps I am only asked
to surrender
to the ocean.

To be filled
with what I cannot contain.

For You are able
to do infinitely more
than I can ask or imagine,
and Your kingdom
is already stirring
within this fragile heart.

May Christ dwell here.

May love become the door.

And may I disappear
a little more
into the mystery
of You.
