I have tried to follow Your light
with eyes that fail to see clearly.
I have called my own voice
Your whisper,
and walked roads
I thought You had given me.
Then I found myself lost.
And I wonder
if You saw the trying
or only the wandering.
But perhaps You see deeper.
Perhaps You see
the small, trembling yes
beneath my failure,
the longing beneath my confusion,
the heart that keeps turning
even when it cannot find the way.
Peter denied You
and You came looking for him.
You did not ask,
“Why did you fail?”
You asked,
“Do you love me?”
Perhaps that is Your question
still echoing through the dark.
And I answer,
“Yes, Lord.
Even here.
Even in my failure.
Even when I have missed the mark.”
I pray You take my imperfect heart
and lead it,
me,
home.
