When Truth Stands Still

Image generated with AI

I shaped Your name to fit my comfort
trimming the edges of eternity
so it might sit quietly in my reason

But Truth does not shrink
It burns with a light too pure
for human hands to hold

I called my confusion humility
my compromise love
my silence peace

Yet Your holiness speaks
in a voice that cannot be muted
a flame that reveals every hidden idol
and the dust upon my soul

You are not an echo of my thought
nor the shadow of my desire
You are the blazing center
before which all truths are tried
and every half-light fades

In Your gaze
relativism crumbles into ash
for You are not one truth among many
You are the measure of all that is
And I trembling
see how small my certainties are

Still You call me closer
not to comfort
but to transformation
to stand within Your fire
until all that is not holy
is no more

Until only
You
remain

amen
