Prayerfully Poetic

A Collection of Prayerful Poems by Tim McGee

The messy work

We scrub our hands with soap,
rinse off the dust and sweat,
as if love’s labor leaves no mark.

But the deeper grime is silence,
turning away,
love withheld.

That stain seeps inward,
clinging to the soul.
No water can reach it.

Only a heart laid bare,
washed in surrender,
comes clean.
