Prayerfully Poetic

A Collection of Prayerful Poems by Tim McGee

The Vanishing Point

I built a throne of words and will
Chiseled from dreams I dared to name
A kingdom rising, breath by breath
Until the mirror looked the same

But in the hush a whisper came
Not thunder not a sky ablaze
Just simple truth to truly live
Is not to shine but give way

He must increase
The stars that burn are not for me
I am the wick not the flame
A shadow kneeling at the Tree

What good is glory shaped by pride
When Love bears wounds upon His side
What weight have crowns of self-made gold
When one Lamb’s blood has paid the toll

So let my voice be lost in Him
My steps erased where His begin
For in my smallness grace is wide
And in His rising death has died

Oh my Tim, the depth cuts deep. The last line echos. Thank you.
