Prayerfully Poetic

A Collection of Prayerful Poems by Tim McGee

Come Holy Spirit

Come, Breath of God, unseen but near
Whisper Your wind through the chambers of fear
Kindle the flame where the embers lie low
Break through the shadows and teach me to glow

Spirit of truth, unshackle my mind
Loosen the lies I’ve too long let bind
Flood every thought with the fire of grace
Till wisdom takes root in Your dwelling place

Come as a dove, so peaceful and still
Taming my heart to align with Your will
Let not my striving drown out Your song
You are the strength when I’m weak, when I’m wrong

Come as the storm when comfort deceives
Shake me awake from the life that just grieves
Rattle the idols I’ve carved in my soul
Sweep through the ruins and make the dust whole

Breath of the Christ who from tombstone arose
Speak through my silence where no one else knows
Intercede deeply with groans I can’t name
Till my whole being burns bright with Your flame

Come, Holy Spirit, my Comfort, my Guide
Stay not above me but dwell deep inside
Be every heartbeat, each step that I take
Mold me to love for Your holy name’s sake

Amen
