Prayerfully Poetic

A Collection of Prayerful Poems by Tim McGee

Do Not Be Silent

When the night is thick with fear
and the voices around me
mock the truth I hold dear
I push through the world’s noise
and listen
to the whisper of God
in my soul

“Do not be afraid”
He says
not because there is no danger
but because He is with me
in the middle of it

“Keep on speaking”
even if my words tremble
even if no one applauds
even if it costs me comfort
or reputation
or rest
because I was not made for silence
in a world that needs
the sound of grace

So I lift my voice
not to shout above others
but to echo the love
that first called my name

And I know
every word of truth
offered in faith
is heard by the One
who gave me the breath to speak

-based on Acts 18:9

Thank you so much Tim. Love “in a world that needs the sound of grace.” “To echo the love that first called my name.”

Oh my… you have written the words in my heart of late. So many walks in the woods lately trying to shut out the noise and hear God speaking to me.

Thank you for this beautiful reflection. I will lift my voice!!

  3. As Erika said, “You have written the words in my heart.” A poet can receive no greater compliment!
