Prayerfully Poetic

A Collection of Prayerful Poems by Tim McGee

An attitude of gratitude

I wake up, I yawn, and I stretch to the sun,
Grateful to God a new day’s begun.
My coffee brews, it smells just right,
A small, warm joy in morning’s first light.

The toast didn’t burn, my socks sort of match,
And I’m thankful my zipper’s not stuck in a catch.
The traffic was smooth, or I just didn’t care,
With my favorite song dancing in the air.

Work piles up, but I shrug and grin—
Grateful just to have something to begin!
Lunch arrives, and the sandwich is fine,
(Though the chips were the wrong kind, I’ll decline to whine.)

By evening, I’m worn, but my heart feels wide,
Counting God-given joys as I set worries aside.
For life’s little quirks, the blaring news or bad weather,
I wear gratitude like a comfy old sweater.
