Prayerfully Poetic

A Collection of Prayerful Poems by Tim McGee

Seeking Depth

Lord

I step into the quiet
where my questions rise like mist
and linger
shaping shadows on the water.

My touch disturbs the surface.
Is my faith this thin
this fragile thread between
what I know
and what I long to believe?

Draw me deeper.
Past the weight of doubt
past the stones I keep in secret
to where Your silence speaks
louder than my striving
where trust is no longer something
I hold tight in my trembling hands
but something vast
like You
holding me.

And if I sink
let it be into mercy.
If I cannot see
let Your darkness
still be light to me.

Amen
